Order of the Sacred Weave
Mythology & Lore
The mythology of the Sanctum of the Sacred Weave teaches that Rhalindor alone crafted the Weave, the fundamental fabric of reality, to test the worthiness of sentient beings. He gathered the other gods to assist in shaping the world, but it was Rhalindor who established the distinct realms for life, spirit, and dreams, ensuring a harmonious balance among them. From the essence of the Weave, he created humans—the most populous species—to inhabit this world. The faithful believe that signs and patterns within the Weave are manifestations of Rhalindor’s influence, guiding them toward virtuous actions. These signs, whether in natural phenomena or serendipitous events, reinforce the belief that the Weave serves as a conduit for Rhalindor’s wisdom, urging followers to embrace bravery, creativity, and kindness in their daily lives.
Tenets of Faith
Embrace the Weave: Followers must actively engage with the Sacred Weave, using their talents and abilities to create and protect life. Each action taken to foster good strengthens the weave and honors Rhalindor’s creation.
Trial of Shadows: Initiates must face a night in the Everblight, a test of courage and resilience, where they confront their deepest fears while protected by Rhalindor’s forces. Surviving this trial signifies their commitment and readiness to bear The Mark of the Weave.
Blood of the Weave: As a symbol of their dedication, initiates undergo a rite in which they have The Mark of the Weave sewn into their skin, binding them to the weave. This ritual serves as a powerful connection to Rhalindor and the responsibilities of guardianship over creation.
Ethics
In the Sanctum of the Sacred Weave, the faithful live by rules that emphasize valor and creativity. Acts of bravery against darkness are seen as sacred expressions of devotion to Rhalindor. Pious actions include aiding those in distress, crafting beautiful works, and participating in rituals that honor the Weave.
Sins disrupt the Weave’s harmony and include cowardice, deceit, and destruction, especially against life and nature. Betraying trust or disrespecting the world’s creations is condemned, as these actions threaten the balance of existence. Thus, adhering to these tenets is a sacred commitment to maintaining the Weave’s integrity and ensuring the flourishing of their world.
Priesthood
The highest-ranking leaders within the Sanctum of the Sacred Weave are known as Prime Weavers, individuals who have devoted their lives to studying and understanding the intricate patterns of the Weave. Chosen by the Weave itself through mysterious signs, Prime Weavers are among the few capable of manipulating its energy. They serve on the Council of Prime Weavers, which oversees the teachings and practices of the Sanctum, guiding the faithful and leading rituals while interpreting the Weave’s guidance to meet the community’s needs. Distinct from the rest of the flock, Prime Weavers do not bear The Mark of the Weave or any sigils, as their innate connection to the Weave makes such markings unnecessary. This distinction underscores their elevated status as intermediaries between the Weave and its followers, and they alone possess the authority to sew the Mark onto new recruits, ensuring the sacred connection is established with care and respect.
