The Twins- stars

Thaecia is set in a binary star system. Both stars are A type, orbiting each other in a figure-8 pattern.

Logistics

Every 52 years, there is a solar eclipse where the suns line up, lasting for about 10 hours. This is considered the Eternal Night period by folk on Thaecia (just a minor hyperbole).

Due to the increased luminosity and mass of the stars, the habitable zone is much farther out. The stars appear as, depending on the progress of Thaecia's orbit, one large blue disc in the sky or two separate orbs.

Culture

It is a common feature of mythology that when the Ancient One created Aneziya and Anzeriya , he created the two stars. The stars represent the Twins in their full godliness. The stars are therefore seen as the seat of power for the gods, as the Twins are the mothers of them all.
The Eternal Night is believed to be the punishment upon the folk of Thaecia for their sins, a period of time when the gods go silent. As a result, all business is ceased and the religious (the majority of folk) stay inside and attend to their spiritual duties.
Many cultural events are held in honor of the stars, such as the Starfire Ceremony; the durians hold the Starfire Ceremonies during the peak of summer, celebrating the power and life-giving energy of the scorching stars. It is held in honor of the Twins and is a deeply religious event. This is one of the only days of the year when the durian people as a society stay up into the day.
The stars hold great power over the folk of Thaecia, not only culturally but obviously in terms of life and death. This is why the Twins' domains are the entry into life and the restful departure from it.
