Lok'Molak
The verdant trees stand straight, the soldiers standing at attention to guard the ancient kingdom. The anthem of this kingdom is everpresent, the melody sung by a choir of birds that soar through the expanse of leaves and shrubs. Deep below the imposing trees lie great beasts: gorillas, okapis and jaguars. If you focus, you may see the legendary purple tiger skulking quietly through the undergrowth - they say such a sight is a great blessingLok-Molak is a lush rainforest in the Lok'teng region of Laen. It is relatively flat and encompasses around 1,300km2 of land in Laen. The area has a complex geography, with many components that make up the fragile ecosystem. Besides this, very little is known about the region, as only the indigenous wood elves know their way around the labyrinth of trees and shrubs. The elves are also not known for their hospitality, and will often fire arrows at unwanted outsiders.
Fauna & Flora
It is incredibly biodiverse, with an immeasurable number of flora and fauna species - only a few have been identified. This is partly due to the sheer amount of species as well as the wood elves' dislike of outsiders in their territory.
The trees in Lok'Molak grow unbelievably quickly in order to reach the emergent layer and have access to sunlight. Many of the trees have adapted to the climate with drip-tip leaves and thin, smooth bark for fast water runoff, as well as strong buttress roots for strength and stability.
It is also known for its variety of creatures. Butterflies, frogs, birds and apes. The most feared of all of these is the Caernan - an intelligent, nightmarish creature that occupies areas of rainforests like a parasite. Not even the wood elves dare to intrude upon its land, unless they have a death wish.
The rainforest is also home to many rare creatures, most notably the purple tiger. Though some believe its existence to be a myth, many claim to have witnessed the creature. It is said to act peacefully, often resting its head upon a person's lap. The wood elves believe it to be a divine animal, and that witnessing it is a sign from their God - Anztli.
Natural Resources
Lok-Molak is no doubt teeming with rare and valuable resources that could be used for a variety of applications. However, the wood elves' religion forbids any major exploitation of their land - so not a single tree has been touched.
Trespassers have illegally acquired some of the resources from the area, managing to evade the wood elves that guard the perimeters. The most sought after product is an extremely rare plant - Prokilan. Noted for its unique shape and colour, it can massively enhance magical ability when consumed. As a result, it is sought after by some of the greatest sorcerers in the world who pay these thieves exorbitant amounts for even the smallest sample.
