The Old Heads

Many Norduans who are strong of faith undergo pilgrimage to the Five Old Heads throughout their lifetime, believing that they will achieve religious enlightenment from such an act. This is mostly due to the fact that the Heads possess the ability to exude a hallucinatory smoke that recalls ancient memories it's glowing eyes have gazed upon. Many religious events can be seen through these eyes by nearby witnesses, preachers often holding ceremonies where they will recount the story as it's being seen.   Despite being used for Norduan Religious Practices, the Heads were originally built by the Natives as an information database, but when the nords landed this was hidden, the natives instead saying that it was simple illusion tech that could project things like narrations. Believing this simple answer, churches were formed around these databases, when the natives secretly used them to convey stories to future heroes that may walk their path of belief.   Today, many of the heads have had villages built around them, others sitting in ruins, and one buried by the dirt of time. If the players were to interact with all of them, a message from a long lost friend would be sure to greet them and give them great assistance when needed.   In terms of appearance, the Old Heads look very very similar to big easter island heads, instead possessing glowing bright blue eyes and nostrils for it's hallucination smoke to exude out of when activated.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of the Old Heads are to guide a group of 6 ancient prophecized heroes on their grand quest to seek out the knowledge of the continent in hopes of restoration or betterment. All known history and discovery recorded by the Native Terranians have been stored in all 5 of the heads, along with various messages left for the heroes. In recent times, however, they have been used for an alternative purpose of religious practice due to the ignorance of the Norduans.   it is said that once the heroes have spoken with all 5 heads they will gain a friend once long lost, brought back in a whistle of song.

Alterations

Small church gathering areas and villages have been built around some, often featuring sitting cushions and some lush gardens surrounding the small, cobbled area. Incense is commonly burned in these religious areas and has been a common practice among the Norduan Settlers Church since their reformation act in 1625. The banner of the church, a red raven over a black background, will often be littered throughout the religious areas. Short walls will be constructed around the lowered seating areas as to keep the hallucination gas contained within the space. It is often a rather comfortable arrangement, food and beverages also being served at religious ceremonies.

Tourism

Visitors to these shrines mostly consist of religious fanatics, priests conducting pilgrimage, or just genuinely curious people. Because of how the villages around the wilds have evolved since the collapse of the empire, not many ever leave their little bubbles of civilization, instead going to one singular head rather frequently or not at all. Because of this fact of life, two of the heads have become increasingly hard to locate over the years of being unmaintained.
