Neptua

the undersea kingdom of the marfolk. the kingdom is built into the seabed, where most farmers and livestock herders reside. There is also an island with the main city built into a massive cave network, with the palace closer to the surface. On the west coast of the island is the Terran Marines guild, a guild of shipbuilders, Navy fighters, and explorers. And various port town all along the coasts of the island for trade. on The islands southern edge is a port city for races which can't breathe underwater.

Structure

King- interfaction relations, dealing with traders and matters of the laws. (duties also fall to the princess if king is unavailable) General- wartime decisions, testing recruit guards and soldiers. guards and soldiers- protect the people

Assets

waterproof clothing, coral jewelry, spears, grapples, salt (lots of salt), alcohol (made of fermented seaweed mixed with pufferfish venom), Crustaceans

History

when the marfolk escaped from precursor facilities, they immediately took to the oceans, mainly living in tribes under the sea, others leaving to the elemental plane of water. over time, many tribes centered around one island under the Neptune family, which still rules to this day.

Demography and Population

Neptua is almost entirely made up of Marfolk (every kind), with some Lizardfolk, Tortles, and Grungs. Surface dwellers can't live in the undercity due to the face that the entire city is underwater, but they are not excluded by law.

Territories

Neptua occupies An island named for the royal family, Neptune island. this is their ancestral lands to a degree, but they mainly only care about what's under the water, but will not actively ignore surface dwellers on their island, particularly in the upper city.

Military

The army of Neptua is small, but effective for their purposes. Its ranks are as follows;   Recruit Mariner Privateer Corsair Captain Leviathan   The weapons of the soldiers stay the same throughout; A spear or trident, a scimitar, a shield and light armor that looks similar to scale mail. The leviathan however uses what equipment they are best with, as there is only one. however generally it is similar to the normal soldier (Marfolk do not use heavy armor.). There are also a small amount of specialties within the military which are as follows;   Grapplers: Grapplers are equipped with the same armor as a normal soldier, however the grapplers are a specialty meant for fighting against ships. Equipped with a grappling hook, they would throw it at the enemy to hook onto them, and pull them into the water, as often their opponents can't breathe underwater, and sometimes couldn't even swim. They are also given a spear and a Scimitar in case they need it.   Raiders: Raiders are unique in that they are not an official part of Neptuas armies. They are a semi autonomous force that act sort of like mercenaries. Equipped with Rapiers, Crossbows, and Very occasionally old elven firearms. they are often sent to fight enemies of neptua by attacking supply ships or their ports, under orders from neptuas leviathan or royal family.   Sappers: Sappers are a stealth unit, that swim below enemy ships and punch holes in the hull with saws, that could also act as a weapon. Besides their shortsword like saws, they had the same armor as a normal soldier, but no other weapons. ---------------------- Non humanoids   Sharks: Sharks are raised as underwater mounts for soldiers, or are sent into battle alongside grapplers and sappers to ensure the crew died before escape, assuming they did not surrender.   Ironshells: ironshells are massive lobster like creatures, slow moving but able to take a massive amount of damage due to its thick shell. They are often mounted with Howdahs, or large harpoon guns manned by several soldiers.

Technological Level

Neptua uses very little metal in their tools due to its weight, so they often use stone, coral or bones. however they have quite a bit of advancement when it comes to shipbuilding, able to create very fast ships with smaller sails or pulled by animals. They also have a way of mass producing potions of waterbreathing (though they are not permanent).

Religion

Worship of The worm queen and orthax is strictly forbidden. however the other gods are just fine, in addition to the worship of dragons such as the queen of the north and the emperor of flame. The religions of Neptua don't effect its current politics however, the current king is difficult to persuade. However the most hated religion is the worship of the ancient deep dragons, or imperators. These monsters enslaved almost the entire species long ago, so any worshippers will be killed or driven out.

Foreign Relations

Neptua has always been somewhat isolated, but they have no issues guiding ships or fighting off sea monsters in exchange for gold or trade goods. the factions with no links to the sea generally just leave them alone.

Agriculture & Industry

Neptua has a good balance of farming and industry. The largest industry is salt refining; living in the ocean they are the number one exporter of Salt in Terra, it's difficult work but supposedly pays well. Building and Repairing ships is also a major industry, the marines guild being the best shipbuilders in the world, even commissioned by the Arstotzkan guard on occasion. In addition, Neptua is one of the few places where Insulanium, a metal that is light enough to make their armors and resistant to electricity, can be mined practically. Neptua also has quite a bit of agriculture. They can grow bananas, certain grains, coconuts, and beneath the water they can grow certain kinds of seaweed. Instead of fishing, they will raise herds of large lobster like creatures for their meat, along with various hatcheries of fish and even reptiles. however Whaling is also practiced, mostly for their fat which is used for lamps, but their meat is said to be somewhat pleasant as well.

Education

Only the more wealthy can afford advanced education, but education can be gained for free at temples to Mn'vah (though it's rather basic)

Infrastructure

Neptua has created many ports on Neptune island for people to bring goods into the kingdom. The ports have towns where most of the Lizardfolk, Grungs and Tortles live, the main source of trade for the kingdom. They also have many ships, having the best navy in Terra, their ships much more durable than ships made by others.
