The Sun of Terra Mortalis

The largest celestial body existing in the sky, providing light and life to all in the Material Plane. Used to mark the new day, and to mark the end of one, the sun is an ever-present character in the story of the world. The sun is there, even when not in sight, even when the Moon of Terra Mortalis dominates the night sky - a still body among the dancing stars. Learned scholars will tell of the sun's presence in the evening, visible only by the light reflected off the lunar celestial body, as it has become known that the moon itself emits no light or warmth.
A curious entity in itself, the sun has more origin stories than that of even the first peoples. Some believing the sun and moon are siblings in a family of celestial bodies, taking up roles that help balance the universe. Some cultures believe instead that they are enemies, cursed to battle eternally until one triumphs, such a victory often marking the end of the world. Unfortunately, even the scholars of the world do not seem to be in agreement regarding its origins. There are several leading theories, however, with some based more in science while others take their lead from the arcane arts.
According to the scholars of science, the sun is a massive celestial body existing at the very edges of the Material Plane, inaccessible to all but the gods themselves. They have mapped its cycles and movements precisely over the millennia, further supporting their claim that sun is a body belonging to natural law. In opposition, the scholars of the arcane arts believe that the sun is a projection of an unfathomably large celestial body, both created and powered by several deities - those whose portfolios include its maintenance. Something akin to a colossal fireball existing in some quasi-equilibrium, adrift in the Astral Sea. Finally, there are those who believe the sun itself is a Primordial, existing since the Days of Creation. Floating through the infinite space beyond the Material Plane, shining with a radiance so intense it pierces the veil between, periodically leaking into their world.
