The Isle of the Mighty

Off the mainland of the Barbaric Wild is a cluster of islands, the largest of which forms a natural wall between the Barbaric Wild and even the Jotunzee and the rest of it's fellows. These islands circle and inhabit a small body of salt water indistinguishable from the Great West Ocean but for the islands, who call it the Inner Sea. The Island of the Mighty is the largest, controlled by the Heptarchy who manage it comfortably. Seven kingdoms occupy the Isle, each with their own governance and independence, but united under the banner of the First Dragon. The Isle forms the eastern boundary of the Inner Sea, the waters between the Tin Isles, controlled by the navies of King Lirr of Strathclyde. Inner Sea trade supports the western isles and contributes to the coffers of the Heptarchy as well as it's constituent members.

Geography

All of the islands rise up from the waters as small mountains, surrounded by treacherous rocks and jutting, towering cliffs, save one or two beach areas with gentle landing. The great port of Lowonida is inland on the Tamessa, whose mouth widens so as to form the best landing on the island, and the Tamessa itself is navigable most of it's length. Rivers cross the island, and are the major means of transport across the island itself.

Fauna & Flora

The Isle of the Mighty is temperate but cold. Oak woods are dotted here and there, with pine in the northern reaches. A variety of herbs and nuts grow here, as well as heather in the north and clover in the south that feed deer and cattle. Wild boar and even dire boar range the wild, with the massive pantera atrox preying on all, though wolves abound. Herds of the island's greatly feared venomous sheep fill the plains, especially in the marshy bogs of Powys.

Natural Resources

The island has rich reserves of coal and tin and pockets of meteorite steel that fall regularly during the equinoxes. Fishing is abundant, limited only by available ports and harbors to launch boats. Amber is found in some mining regions, as is silver. Agriculture produces food crops and herbs in abundance. Fowling is possible in spring and summer, but the flocks of native birds migrate around midautumn and disappear until just before spring.
