Technofortress

The Empress, to secure her power, cloisters herself up and hoards her fancy salvaged gizmos in a nigh-impenetrable fortress defended by god-knows-what. She lives directly below her base of operations, and her vaults lie directly below her. Only around 15% of what she has has made it out into the hands of her soldiers and officials, and those are her weakest technologies. Whenever she feels bored she launches shells of tear gas at the tenements, laughs at them through a telescope, and the very moment they start asking questions she immediately blames it on groups that she doesn't like. Only she can be the purveyor, the arbiter of modernity and prosperity. Precisely, this is why she hates religion, because it tends to place importance on a being that is not her.

Defences

Her fortress is a real treasure trove, filled with not only weapons but with machines that can reshape the very landscape, things that can alter natural forms at a whim, and mechanical monstrosities that can combine with each other to form giant warriors. Most of her servants consist of androids and the like, who are seen all about her citadel. There are flying drones armed with gas grenades.

Architecture

To compensate for the grey drabness of the brutalist architecture, every wall is colourfully bedizened with geometrical patterns as to invoke a sense of otherworldliness, to convey that her domain is one that transcends the natural world. The exquisite patterns and motifs that vary in shape and flexibility that can be seen everywhere possess no meaning save for the glorification of the invincible Empress and her triumphant victory over the corrupt material realm and its depraved idols. Every building, every single tower and arch looms high over the rest of the city-ship, so that everyone sees it should they careen at the prow.
