Steel Spider
Power Generation
Presently, they are widely regarded as one of the few devices which the Hegemony uses its rudimentary batteries to power; which are in turn fueled by combustion engines that burn peat to generate steam movement, or the burning of crude oil.
Propulsion
These machines have three legs, very long and stilt-like, which are used to trudge through the marsh. The steel and rubber legs are specially designed to travel through the swampy and difficult terrain of most Vramcharpian regions by wading through mud and slime with the least possible resistance. Also, the feet of Steel Spiders have feet padded in rubber coated in a toxic agent which prevents any potential marsh-vermin from attempting to gnaw on them.
Weapons & Armament
Usually there are Gatling-guns attached to the top of them, in addition there are grenade launchers. Some of the more expensive models are equipped with salvaged heat rays mounted atop them, of which there are no current means of manufacture and are hence classified as Oikumene artifacts. Because of their great capacity to handle burdens there are usually a dozen miscellaneous other firing weapons mounted in various places along the machine's chassis, usually salvaged and repurposed from decommissioned machines.
Armor and defense
Every part of it is clad in three inches of solid steel, in enormous plates of metal, and painted thickly with a rust retarding varnish, and the armour is hammered and screwed on in overlapping layers. Smaller armaments are used for the purpose of preventing infantry from approaching it, like pistols, which are shot through small holes should anyone come in close range to the war-machine.
Communication Tools & Systems
There is an electronic relay which shoots a message between these machines.
