The Collectors

The Atheneum needs books. The Collectors exist to expand the library, filling it with every obtainable piece of knowledge.
Most of The Collectors are Tallow, able to stealthily seek out new books, pamphlets, waybills, and even personal correspondence. While sometimes they deliver materials to the library directly, they most often absorb what they've read and dictate it to a scribe, producing new copies of existing works. Their acquisition of knowledge isn't limited to written works, either; while everything ends up in The Atheneum in written form, the leaders are just as accepting of verbal comments, which end up on paper when passed on to the scribes anyway.
Non-Tallow members of The Collectors are rare; lacking their colleagues' ability to perfectly recall the written word, they rely on making copies, obtaining books legally, or even stealing to augment the collection.
No one has successfully reached out to The Collectors and been granted membership. Rather, as part of their surveillance of Temshai, they select worthy members from the most studious. Many a wizard has jumped at the opportunity to lay hands on the greatest trove of knowledge imaginable.
