Session 23: Baphomet's Labyrinth

General Summary

The party found themselves standing int he dark beside the groaning undead corpse of their fallen ally, Rolen Sha-tae. Footsteps approached rapidly in the dark; the party had only seconds to prepare. Quickly, quietly, they set an ambush for their pursuers.   Instead of a demonic ambush, in entered Cristos Demonbane and a new mysterious masked figure -- Ronin, a warforged battle master and fellow member of the order to which Cristos belonged. They had been staking out the cultic hideaway, and followed the party in. They shared information that they had seen someone matching Davrilindil's description enter the ruins a little while before the party; he may still be there, but only if they continued their pursuit.   Making their way down further into the ruins, the party fought a group of cultists hiding in ambush before uncovering a pair of hidden doors and following them to their end -- a hidden ancient draconic hatchery -- where they found what appeared to be some sort of ancient dragon egg. The fought off another wave of defenders (they weren't exactly being quick or quiet in their delve) before making their way through a ramshackle labyrinth built deep into the dungeon.   Finally arriving at its end, the party stumbled upon a pair of large brass doors, which they forcefully swung open. Inside, they saw a cloaked figure standing over a large abyssal summoning circle, a toad-like demon standing to one side and Davrilindil to the other.   "I told you they'd come after me!" Davrilindil yelled, "now get me out of here!"   A crack in the air widened, letting in a faint red light. They would not let him escape again.
