Cristos Demonsbane

Cristos (a.k.a. Demonsbane)

Cloaked and hooded, moving with hardly a sound, a single shadowy figure treks his way through the wilderness. A branch cracks. He crouches silently, blending in with the shadows.   Below the ridge on which he currently rests, the ranger watches three large shapes trounce loudly through the underbrush. He has arrived at his quarry, at last. Silently raising a crossbow in hand, he sits, ready to strike at the first sign of his prey. He exhales slowly.   Out of the underbrush, a large demonic gorilla -- a barlgura -- slams into the open. Click. Without hesitation, a silvered bolt launches into the creatures neck. It howls out in pain, injured but not defeated, looking for the source of its misery.   Drawing the longsword from his back, the ranger hardly has time to admire its shimmering blood-red blade, hellish runes glowing lightly sensing their time is near. Leaping from the ridge, the ranger lands sword-first on the barlgura's hairy back, sword carving a deep cut into the demon's muscles. The barlgura pounds its chest in anger, grabbing the hooded figure and sending him flying against a nearby tree. The demon charges. Nearby howls pierce through the night; his friends approach.   The wind knocked out of him, the ranger momentarily sees two barlguras rushing him, his vision doubled from the impact. He feels the familiar weight of his sword in his hand; his deathgrip on the weapon held. He smirks slightly under the hood, raising his eyes towards the charging foe. His eyes flash, his vision clearing; he sees every avenue of attack, every weakness the creature possesses. The barlgura makes a final leap, splintering the tree holding up the ranger.   Moving with unnatural speed. The ranger dodges the attack, striking up with his blade, digging deep into the underbelly of the beast and sending a spray of dark, acrid fiendish blood in an arc following the blades trajectory. He lets out a soft chuckle as the runes of his blade glow with increasing intensity. Before it can strike again, the barlgura disappears with a loud pop!, banished back to the Abyss just as its friends bound into the clearing.   The two beasts snarl and beat their chests. They see the figure now unhooded. They take note of his deep red skin, long dark hair, and piercing yellow eyes. But most prominently, they take in the two large stumps on his forehead; horns cut off at their root. He is not so different from they. They gnash their teeth and puff their chest before turning tail and running back the way they came. They do not want to end up like their compatriot.   Cristos wipes some blood from the corner of his mouth. Reaching up, he returns his hood to its preferred position covering his head, leaving his face in shadow. Despite the shadow, the smile remain, sharp teeth reflective in the moonlight. Sword out he bounds after them. The chase is on.

Cristos is muscular with deep red skin, long unkempt raven-black hair, and piercing yellow eyes.
