The Ashen Lands
A region in the eastern most the Siberian Republic constantly hot and covered in cinders. The region is formally known as Irkutsk Oblast a federal district of the Siberian Republic. the land is replete with with fire crystal formations. Once a region known for mining these crystals a catastrophic accident the region was scorched and forever changed. This region of Siberia is covered in a never ending thick coat of ash, to survive most major cities have been domes built around them with air purifiers less well off cites have no choice but to wear gas masks and other filtration systems when outside. Open Flames and even visible electric currents can start a new conflagration depending on how close to the origin of the accident. because of this most natives especially people on the fringes prefer pneumatic weapons or bows and crossbows.
Geography
What is known as the federal district of Irkutsk Oblast. The region consists mostly of the hills and broad valleys of the Central Siberian Plateau. common artificial sights include ruins of forgotten and destroyed cites and villages along with abandons mines and quarries.
Ecosystem
a scorched wasteland with several large city. the land is mostly devoid of animals except for in the larger domed cites. although monsters associated with fire such as the ifrit are not uncommon to be found in the ruins

This article makes me want to go out and explore that ancient city to find out what had happened and to see if there's anything left of that civilization. Very cool article
