Clearspring

Clearspring is a city which arose from a small oasis town deep within the Aurean Desert. Nearby ancient ruins from the long-dead Aurean Empire suggest that the area may have once been fertile. The Sundering created a water-filled tunnel which leads directly to Tritonis, the capital of a wealthy triton kingdom. With the discovery of this route, Clearspring boomed into a major hub of trade between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds. As a city, Clearspring is less than 200 years old, and is still experiencing the pains of such rapid growth.

Demographics

Human, elf, gnome, half-elf, half-orc, desert dwarves. Small enclaves of tritons, merfolk, and locatha.

Government

Clearspring is run directly by the Clearspring Directorate.

Industry & Trade

Large glassworks produce glassware for export. Pottery is a close second export as well. Imports include food (fish, crustaceans, various aquatic fruits and vegetables), and magical items.

Infrastructure

Gnomish shipyards manufacture and maintain Clearspring's fleet of mechanical sub-aquatic ships. An elvish shipyard produces enchanted sub-aquatic ships, and numerous dockyards send and receive trade. A large caravanserai looks to the needs of the large and frequent caravans which visit the city.

Guilds and Factions

The five most powerful guilds, the Glassmaker's Guild, the Gnome Shipworker's Guild, the Mage's Guild, the Blacksmith's Guild, and the Caravan Masters, also comprise the Clearspring Directorate. The city has a host of other guilds, such as the Merchant's Guild, Captain's Guild, Guild of Stonemasons, and Tailor's Guild, to name a few.   The aquatic residents have also organized a representative council to look after their interests and bring concerns to the Directorate.
