Telim

Telim is two worlds in one. One world is the single, planet-spanning continent, dotted with cities, kingdoms, and vast tracks of untamed wilderness where colossal beasts roam amidst the ruins of long-forgotten empires. Merchants brave the Road, a series of linked byways that encircle the globe and link the most prominent and prosperous cities together. It is said that the spirits of poets and artists trod the paths of the Road so that they might follow the setting sun for eternity.   The other world of Telim lies beneath the first - deep, deep beneath. Beneath miles of rock lies an ocean, completely encased within the globe, and passing through its center. Water-filled caves hundreds of miles across are linked by twisting, labyrinthine tunnels. This sunless world has also seen its share of civilizations rise and fall, and its varied peoples are no less lovers, dreamers, schemers, murderers, heroes, and villains than their terrestrial counterparts.   For twenty thousand years the two worlds of Telim went about their affairs, struggles, triumphs, and catastrophes in complete ignorance of one another. Then came the Sundering, which rent the earth and shattered stone. The miles of impenetrable rock which had kept the aquatic and terrestrial worlds separated now filled with water as tunnels and passages wove their way to the rivers, lakes, and seas of the surface. And so began the Joining Age, when the peoples and civilizations of the two worlds began to form one, interconnected world.   Two hundred years have passed since first contact between the Surface and Beneath was made, and not everything has gone well.

  My intent is to create a world with enough locations, peoples, factions, mysteries, and dangers that should I wish, I could run a wide variety of D&D adventures and campaigns. As a result and due to my methods of creation, much of this project will be fragmentary until a "later date".
