Genetics and Reproduction

Upon succesful insemination the female lizan will lay eggs after a 5 month period. These eggs then will require a special amount of heat and will hatch after about 5 more months. It is common for lizans to care dutifully for their young. The normal size of a clutch of lizan eggs is about 3-4 eggs.

Growth Rate & Stages

After hatching the so called "eggling" will be equipped with everything a lizan adult needs, though its eyes are a bit bigger than usual. Other than most races lizan children do not really undergo puberty, but their reproductive organs are only functional at an age of 16. All in all the growth of a lizan in its early years is fairly linear and stops after being ready to mate. At about 70 years lizan scales become more and more dry and grey. At about 100 years a lizan dies.

Ecology and Habitats

Lizans are known for their lack of own body heat and will often live near natural sources of heat, though there are lizan settlements that have artificial sources of heat. In cold climates lizan movement slows down and actions become more energy expensive. Most lizans will live near sources of water and food, wich is mainly meat and fruit. As the civilization of lizans progressed they have created rather large cities.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Lizans are mostly carnivorous, but also consume a fair share of indigenous fruit. Lizans are also able to process raw meat fairly well and because of an aenergy inexpensive demeanor they are able to live without food for several days. or even weeks.

Biological Cycle

Lizans, when exposed to cold climate for a considerable amount of time will enter a state of hibernation, where the body seizes to work and freezes completely. After a longer exposure to warmth the vital status returns to its old valus and the lizan individual lives without any major repercussions.
