The Curators
For many, the Emergence was the event that scattered humanity and forced them to fill the cracks made by the Titan Folk, but for others it was the event that threatened to destroy any semblance of history. These people founded the order of The Curators, dedicated to protecting knowledge and recording history across Teldir. Following much of the recorded research, history, and information being destroyed during the War of Emergence, the Curators built a fortress library named Yesterday's Bastion, where they staunchly defended the knowledge they held more dearly than their own lives.
Ideals
The Curators devoted themselves to the preservation of knowledge, building and protecting libraries all around Teldir. They believe knowledge is more important than one's own life, so they will sacrifice much to gain or protect the knowledge they desire. This willingness to throw away their own lives and those of others has built up some disapproval by society.
Ranks
Seekers are one of the most common ranks of the Curators. Seekers are explorers and adventurers who search for and gather secrets, texts, and other historical artifacts for research and recording. Some adventurers do work for the Curators in this manner without joining the order, though, as they have been known to trade magic items for favors. The head of the Seekers is simply known as the High Seeker, a gnomish explorer named Fexim Copperfoot (CN male forest gnome scout).
Keepers are those who tend to the archives controlled by the Curators, devoting their lives to organizing the archives and memorizing its contents. Only one Keeper is assigned to each library, although they do have the option to appoint a ward to assist them and study under them. Keepers hold the highest power amongst those of their order.The current High Keeper is Elivi Jathim (NG female human mage).
Bastions are the defenders of the Curators' libraries, guards oathbound to sacrifice their lives to protect the archives they are stationed within. Unlike seekers, the Curators do not take outside work in place of their bastions. The current High Bastion is Tyrkras (LN male half-elf warlord).
