The handmaiden

A constellation that vaguely resemble a woman with a veil represents loyalty and subtlety. Legends have it that the moon was wildly in love with the sun and while the sun did love he felt that she paled in comparison to himself and the second he saw her the sun fell in love with the moons beautiful hand maiden more then the moon itself. The handmaiden who’s radiance shined brighter then the moon started to hide away from the sun making herself smaller and less solid then her mistress. She refused to be seen as long as the sun was around and the sun being the fickle being that he is once again focused on the moon. The handmaiden can also represent things that are hidden and those born under it are said to have hidden greatness within them. Some say that each star was a handmaiden loyal to their patron before they died. A lot of legends have whenever a loyal servant of a hero dies have them become one of the stars of the maiden and sometimes act as messengers for the moon allowing references between legends. Sometimes to honor a worker at important events it is common to give them a gift or have decorations resembling the handmaiden. It’s important to note that the handmaiden is considered the first actual constellation and because of this and the fact that the handmaiden chooses to be in her current form causes her to be seen as more powerful then other constellations.

Geography

The handmaiden is made up of more then 60 individual stars.

History

The maiden started off as a local legend created in Kryst but it quickly spread becoming widely accepted even being known in other countries. There are some fringe cults to the hand maiden and a lot of the helpers of more moon focused religions often take on her name.
