Day of tales

A annual holiday that is based around the impressions you leave on others. The entire day resolves around two meals in the day of which the first is eaten with family to start off the day and the last meal is eaten by each participant usually alone. The first meal is made out of food brought chosen by the head of the house and the amount of symbolism differs from family to family but when there is thought put into the type it is usually about the feel of there family throughout the year. During the day of tales people exchange food with those they know that has a symbolic element to how they view the person with special focus on how they have changed since the last day of tales. The middle of the day is usually spent going out to socialize and exchange gifts most people carry some sort of basket to keep the food given and that they are planning to give. Food vendors are one of the few people that are working during the day of tales and often have a variety of special offers and dishes for customers. There are also usually special shops that on the day of tales besides selling food hold onto gifts and messages in cases where the giver knew they wouldn't be available or couldn't find the intended recipient. Any food not claimed from these shops by the next day are given to the poor and because of this the poor usually celebrate the day of tales a day after everyone else. At the end of each day of tales each person has a meal usually by themselves where they eat at least a little bit of every peice of food given pausing before hand to thank the giver and to think/internalize what the peace of food represents
