Lowlands Raiders

Written by Gui_48

The Lowlands raiders are a gang of savages that terrorize the lowlands trade routes. Mounted on horses, they will chase or ambush merchants, supply caravans, and other travelers. They are known to not spare those who resist their pillaging, and they will cut of the tongues of witnesses who survive. They do not wear uniform, but have a general attire of greens, browns, blacks, and greys within their ranks. They fight in warbands of around 2 dozen, spread out all across the lowlands trails and supply routes. They mainly use melee weapons such as swords, lances, and scimitars. They are swift with their plunders, taking as many items of value as they can get or carry. Their recruits consist of lowlifes from all across the lowlands, who seek them out in an effort to make money.

Structure

The raiders travel in warbands of around 2 dozen, they all report to the warband master. The warband master is in charge of appointing individual, smaller crews to sell off stolen goods, and to appraise stolen tressures.

Culture

They believe they are independent to any of the lowlands nations, and do not care for its citizens. They also encourage others to leave the cities and join them. Although they work against cities like Teninbrad, they do not wish to overthrow or rule a settlement their ideology is of a nomadic lifestyle.

Public Agenda

The raiders and their warmaster seek only to plunder goods and acumulate wealth while damaging the economy of the lowlands.

Assets

The wealth of the lowland raiders is constantly fluctuating, as more goods are plundered and sold, and gold is spent. The raiders also tend to keep weaponry and battle equipment that they aquire. In total, between all the warbands they tend to number in the 40s on average, but, due to the nature of their work, casualties are common. Each member is also granted a riding horse when they earn enough trust within the ranks of the raiders.

History

The first warband master started with only a half dozen men, mugging weak travelers along the roads between Teninbrad and Crominster. This escalated rapidly, with thugs from all over the lowlands wanting to join, which increased their manpower, and with it, their wealth. This lead up to the warbands of raiders that roam the lowlands today.
