Nordervolk Naming Conventions

Nordervolk names are structured thusly: First Name, Patronym (e.g., Asbjörnsson, Pehrson, Johannsdatter), and Clan Name for nobles. For bastard children or those with unknown fathers, the name of the god worshipped by their mother is instead used in the patronym, in the hopes that the god shall look over the child where their father failed. 
Later in life, a child may choose to throw away their patronym. Often, they do this in order to develop their own identity separate from their family.
