Elves

Elves can be found all throughout Tarynn, though they are rarely seen outside big cities. Most larger cities have elven quarters, where elves live and work alongside humans and dwarfs. The ancient ruins of Taryth in the middle of the Whitewood is said to be the capital of the once prosperous Kingdom of the Elves, with rumors of relics, powerful magical artifacts, and hidden magic luring many an adventurer to their death. Most elves embrace the study of wizardry, and aspire to enter the coveted ranks of the Red Robes, though Elvish lore recalls a time when the Elves embraced Nature, and drew their power and magic from the natural forces of world.

Civilization and Culture

History

Elves have a long and varied history on Tarynn. Their own history, covered in the Ages of the Tree, stretches back tens of thousands of years and is passed down orally from generation to generation. The first Elven kingdom, Taryth, was established by Queen Mariel and lasted over 1,000 years before falling to the Kingdom of the Dwarves, Mithlorith , during the Magic Wars.
After the Magic Wars, Elves became reclusive, sticking to their own kind and withdrawing from the human world, hiding in forests, swamps, and natural caverns. Some elves felt their natural connection to nature broken, cursed by the Dwarves, and they turned to arcane and other magics to try and strengthen their settlements and people. Those who embraced the study of wizardry became accustomed to life in human cities, and were among the 'Saved', the first generation of Elves who remained inside Tarynn's borders after The Wall was built.
