Ultan

Once the Great Eastern Shelf of the singular continent that opened the inner sea to the gran ocean, since the Shattering Ultan has been divided and broken into endless archipelago and great island chains. Most notable of this are the four dawns which have become the center of power for the Lunarlian Empire in the wake of the dividing of the elvish forces and the destruction of Kralvane. It's tropical waters are plagued by powerful typhoons born over the thunder god bay, and the summers are crippled with sweltering heat and humidity so high it feels as if the air is more liquid than water; but it also bares some of the most luscious, and fertile farmland in the world thanks to the powerful volcanic activity. It is a vast ocean full of pirates, coursairs, monsters and war; with the burgeoning Thriband Empire growing and spreading with each passing year in the south eastern seas and battling with the Lunalian Empire over resources and territory; while the hidden cities of the Kitsune still control vast areas of forest that the Empire can no spread.

Geography

A massive collection of volcanic islands ranging from very small or uninhabitable to vast and continent like in their diversity and sheer mass. The majority of islands within the sea have a strong tropical climate with blistering hot and humid summers, brief springs and autumns with brisk winters; while the northern most islands in the ocean face power and devastatingly cold winters. The Ocean of Ultan itself makes up most of the eastern half of the world, and the reaches of the continent spawn from the arctic shelf and the way to the abyssal pit of Gallow's Depth and the reaches of the deep ocean.

Ecosystem

Typically islands in Ultan have a tropical and humid climate that is occasionally plagued with typhoons, fooding, tsunamis and a strong annual rainy season. Powerful winds off of the ocean and volcanic ash from ocean bound eruptions are also common; because of this the soil that is farmable in Ultan is some of the most nutrient rich on the planet; with small islands being bale to support a heavy population because of high crop yields. Beyond this, due to the nature of the islands having once existed as part of the main singular continent many islands end up having a-typical apex predators or facing animals who, over the last several thousand years to have evolve differently than their main land counterparts; some islands which had a low predator count at the time of the shattering have seen the bird species that frequent their land slowly lose the ability to fly as the islands lack of predator have removed the need for the birds to constantly expend the energy escaping threats-- Creating with it a vast and wildly different floura and fauna that is unique to each individual island, though the largest and most central of the islands are very similar ecologically, once you breach away towards the outer islands things become much more varied.

Localized Phenomena

Ultan is sandwiched between two unique aquatic phenomena; to the north and east it has the Thunder God's Bay (Raijin no Wan as the locals refer to it) which is a tumultuous part of the sea which boasts fewer volcanic islands than the southern reaches but bares the brunt of powerful storms that rage for weeks at a time; beyond this the northern reaches of the bay are an area famed for being the nest of great kraken; titanic and cruel intelligent monsters who have a nesting and territorial/ traditional war ground spreading from the northern reaches of the bay to the tip of the spine of the world which is the primary reason why so few would attempt to circumnavigate the world by taking the arctic gap between the ice shelf and the spine of the world. To the south the islands and scattered archipelagoes that spread out from the central islands is the abyssal pit; Gallow's Depths. Reportedly the deepest parts of the world; few of the species that live on the surface have ever experienced the depths of the Gallows and returned to talk about it. Many unknown monsters and beings are known to breach the depths into the sunlight ocean and cause havoc; and ships that dare sail across the depths are often rumored to have been breached and pulled under by pirates from beneath the water.

Fauna & Flora

The flora and fauna of Ultan is almost as varied as the vast differences found in the islands of Krelvane, but it is very famous for its tigers, wolves and turtles.

Natural Resources

Silk is farmed almost exclusively in tropical Ultan; creating a valuable resource that is sought after all over the world, while the volcanic ash enriched farm land has lead to some of the most abundant rice crops and vegetables in the world. This has lead to Ultan being a premiere exporter of different oils used for cooking and massages. It is also notable for having mountains rich in rare gemstones and ores, notably having the largest jade mines in the world.

History

Ultan was predominately controlled by the elven empire in the distant past when it was still part of the great singular continent; however since the Shattering it has seen many wars and burgeoning kingdoms and rivals to the control of the land. Of all the realms that were damaged by the Shattering, Ultan was the second part of the world in terms of the devastation of the cataclysm behind Krelvane with much of its population suffering greatly.
