Kingdom of Felndaguard- The Bloody Shield

Felndaguard, The Bloody Shield is the city of Dwarves that exists within Feln and has for many centuries served as a home to a great many noble families of great power within the dwarven clans of Helfdome.    Known for its flag of a blood red shield on a black field, the city lacks the golden spelndor of gnomish cities featuring instead much of a ruddy red stone that is a compound of iron dust and ores that are found within the mountain giving it the title of 'Bloody Shield'.

History

The Kingdom of Felndaguard was founded in the year 200A2, during the Age of Peace when a group of dwarven settlers managed to cross through the Great Forest, one of the first caravans to make this trip and survive. Started by a group of twenty families who found the large mountain just as winter was beginning to take the north, it was at first just a series of natural tunnels desperate for upgrades. The founding of the city fell to the shoulders of five dwarves who decided that they would call this place their home, their families becoming the first nobles of Felndaguard. Elected by general consensus, King Dra'gothar Saurabane, the first to bare the title founded the city of Felndaguard.    After a decade of work, and communion with the Church of Four Hammers, the god of spirits, Dunethoin the Bringer of Ales came to the mountain and helped the children there turn it into their home. The monastery that the mountain is famous for was founded during this time as Dunethoin taught his children how to grow and harvest that rare berry from the top of the mountain.     The city has grown in power and splendor until the Age of Separation, since then it has continued on at a steady pace of progress, digging deeper and exploring the underdark beneath the mountain while reaching out to trade with more allies.

Demography and Population

Felndaguard carries a population of 70% dwarf, 20% gnome, and 10% other consisting mostly of humans, kabutions and thriband members.

Territories

Felndaguard exists within the mountain of Feln and has control of Feln and the forest proper that surrounds the mountain, including the trade village: Felnaress, which was construct Post-Shattering to increase the ease of trade with the Jaralian Empire.

Military

Felndaguard possesses a skilled military of famed legionaries. They battle specifically with plate armour and tower shields that link one together, allowing them to shut down tunnels and cave systems while their spellcasters hurl spells over the heads of those holding the line. Beyond this the city possesses several skilled divisions of medical personnel and alchemists who work to further aid their soldiers in battle.

Religion

Though the Church of the four hammers is the official state religion it is not heavily enforced on the non-dwarf citizens of the city. Though regular sermons are performed in the church of the four, a large cathedral built into the city. It doubles as a homeless shelter in times of emergency or when the city allows in refugees (though this is rare). The Church is not on a level of power that it is in other dwarven cities but this has not caused any major conflict within Feldaguard in hundreds of years.

Foreign Relations

Feln has a loose trading partnership with Couthshou that resides to its south, since the Separation and Couthshou's assimilation into the Jaralian Empire these trade partnerships have begun to expand out to the other cities in Helfdome, but slowly.

Trade & Transport

Mostly the city trades finished products, in particular weapons of finely worked iron and armor of iron and adamantine. Jewellery is often sold as well bearing the traditional rubies and amethyst of the mountain normally made of silver, and very rarely gold. As with many dwarven cities what the people of the mountain offer up to trade is to them, considered the lowest quality that they have produced which still puts it well above any novice blacksmith of the surrounding cities; but there is a large amount of competition of famous blacksmiths in New Wharf and Couthshou that hinder the trade of the city to be as prosperous as others and so they have slowly started to look into other forms of trade, including the mushrooms and species of fungus they grow underground.
