Erkirr

Erkirr or Erk Home, is one of the four Dareshs that constitute Kenirr, per the "Treaty of the four Darens".

History

While the people that populate Erkirr, the Erks or Erkik have a much older history Erkirr as a recognised state start with the Kenon Plan written sometime at the start of the 14th century. This recognition was created by a Kenirrik need for iron and other minerals as well as the discovery of rich veins near what later became known in the Kenirrik language as Erkenber. Causing the many reforms created by Kenon including the attempt to formally create a mining settlement deep in the large forested land known as Erkirr or Erkweld. While at first this was difficult over time and with promise of great rewards Kenirrik diplomats managed to convince nearby clans to mine for them in return for food, while for the coast this was seen as a first attempt to create an Erkik vassal state the Erks saw this more as a trade deal calling it instead the Kenon Pact.   Over time however this mining settlement, named after the leader of the Erkik side of the negotiation (Kreskhelt), grew to become a formidable city in its own right as Kenirrik interest grew to include fur, bones and small exotic decorations (exotic to the Kenirrik eye) trade. While still formally indepedent as the city grew larger it became more clear how close and dependent it had become to the coast, it like Kenirrik cities could not feed itself without outside aid and humans became more common as certain traders chose to live among the Erks. While many Erks despised the city as it grew seeing it as going against the traditional life, many clans grew rich on trade with the humans no matter if they lived in Kreskhelt or not resulting in a sort of golden age of prosperity and relative peace that was untill the coast broke.   With the disaster of Lekirr and the collapse of Kenirrik society, Kreskhelt and Erkirr got shocked as well, the war led to a decline in old trade routes and while initially it saw continued interest in Erkirrik iron this interest was met with a harder ability to transport grain especially hindred about a century into the war when the organization known as the Web or Spider's Web became de facto leaders of Lekirr and thus established controll on all trade going in and out of Erkirr, this not only hindered the ability for the coast to fuel their constant war machine but also removed Kreskhelt their easy access to grain causing food shortages as prices rose. While not chaotic the war did indeed hurt Erkirr and caused it to reconsider itself and its identity.   Was it a colony of the old Kenirrik Onmarrs?   Was it an orcish Daresh?   Was it a large clan?   These were some of the many questions asked and while no answer was ever formally accepted over time the belief grew to be what it is today, that it is a orcish Daresh, run by orcs and keeping many of their traditions but a compromise, it was not another clan of the Erkweld but a kingdom and as of such with food shortages increasing, plans were made to grow, at first this growth was through creating an eastern harbor to remove themself from the dependance of Lekirrik trade but over time it grew to such controversial moves as cutting down pieces of the forest to make space for farms. This move is still incredibly dissliked as trees in the Erkweld are seen as protected, only to be felled when desparately needed or to fell specific ones as told by "Speakers". But it was done none the less, resulting in Erkirr now being worthy of its name and not just a glorified name for a mining settlement.
