Stichting
Jinx leaned back in his seat, watching the ground drop vertiginously below the suborbital. Down on the plains of central Borealia, Stichting glistened like an inverted chandelier, broken into pieces by three rivers that joined into one right in the middle, forming a peace symbol that shimmered brilliantly in the early autumn sun.
...
Unassumingly, the gravel path took Jinx up a gentle slope and to the top of a mound, where clear water flowed out from a jumble of rocks, gurgling happily down a series of tiny rapids and into a sinuous canal that wound its way over the gardens below, narrow enough that the footbridges crossing it were more decorative than useful. Sculpted stone benches made a circle around the spring, and the elf sat down on the farthest one, watching the panorama of the city: gleaming spires caught in a web of skyways, aircars and shuttles flashing among them like meteors in the late afternoon sun. Oh yes. It was good to be back.
