Melam

Melam is the seventh moon of Marduk. It is the most traditionally habitable body in the outer solar system, being large enough to have substantial gravity, possessing ample water, and having its own magnetic sphere to protect itself from the radiation of Marduk. This radiation creates aurorae throughout Melam's atmosphere as it is deflected by the moon's magnetosphere. These dancing lights are the origin of the moon's name, and act as a tourist attraction today.   Melam has a thick oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere comparable to Urash and Inanna. Melam's atmosphere has a much higher concentration of carbon dioxide, however, with more than ten times the level found on Urash. Consequently, Melam is far warmer than would be expected given its distance from Utu with an average high of 14 degrees Celsius at the equator. A narrow habitable band extends north and south from the equator before giving way to a frozen land of titanic ice sheets. Within the habitable band, rivers, lakes, and seas give rise to all manner of life and the region is covered in cool savannas and pine forests filled with ferns.
