Death of an Emperor

Emperor Barros is slain in Ogralon. Shortly after his remains are put to rest Cretion claims the Dragon Disciples attempted to sieze power for themselves and declares them enemies of the Empire.

News returns from Ogralon in the form of ten Dragon Disciples carrying with them the body of Emperor Barros. After the Emperors funeral ceremonies Cretion is seen running from the palace covered in blood and screaming betrayal. He orders the capture and execution of all the Dragon Disciples and ransacks the laboratory where they were created, finding only a few stragglers. The Dragon Disciples go underground and the steward promises a high bounty for anyone who brings information about their whereabouts. Most Aludelians however were strong supporters of Emperor Barros and often refuse to rat out any Dragon Disciples.   With the general mistrust of the people threatening to topple him before his reign has even started Cretion begins putting more focus on the war with Ogralon. Attacks have started becoming more frequent and people soon decided it was more important to keep Aludel whole than risk destabilization.   Cretion declares Martial Law. He moves his troops into the towns and fortresses to replace the local guards in order to ‘secure safety in the event of an invasion.’
