Blackmoor

Structure

Blackmoor is ruled by a King who presides over a council of Barons. The Barons each run one of the cities (and the lands around them) within Blackmoor.

Public Agenda

Since its founding Blackmoor has done nothing but promote a peaceful living environment in which all people can explore the best versions of themselves.

Assets

Blackmoor has a fairly large fleet of very well built (and sometimes advanced) ships, however they are mostly used for fishing and travel. The landscape (though hilly) is very verdant and the lands on the edge of Wildrun are covered in farms. On the edge of the sea, small limestone quarries dot the landscape.

History

During the initial war with Ogralon many Halflings joined with Aludel in defending the lands and afterwards stayed to be part of the confederacy. When the elves left without any major repercussions, many Halflings (and Gnomes along with them) took their things and returned to the lands on the south-east edge of Wildrun. The elves had no use for the lands outside the forest and so the two groups only rarely came into conflict.   Gnomes were an interesting addition to the Halfling groups that moved to Blackmoor. Initially Halflings and Gnomes were not too fond of one another. Though both maintain often boisterous personalities and a love for entertainment, many Gnomes tended to regard Halflings as lazy because their laid back attitude about life left very little room for advancement. Gnomes minds were constantly looking towards the future, towards change, while Halflings were content to sit in their houses, smoke their pipes and fish in the ocean. When the majority of the Gnomish population decided to move to Blackmoor with the Halflings many people were surprised. Gnomes now will tell you that, back then, there was hardly another option. Humans advanced at far to quick a pace for safety to be a consideration, not to mention their proclivity for starting wars can make it hard for a well meaning Gnome to get about with his business. In a land where Halflings were in charge, Gnomes knew they would have peace and quiet to tinker at their leisure.

Demography and Population

The majority of Blackmoor's citizens are Halflings. Gnomes hold the minority. A few humans, elves, and other races reside in Blackmoor but their numbers are very small.
