Lion's Gate

Lion's Gate is what completes the border between Ewhil to the north and Oplus to the south. Oplunian controlled and held the fortress is centered in the pass between the Sunway Tops and Chilants Peaks mountain ranges. From there they control all official traffic between the two countries. Taxes are levied and troop movements are recorded, denied or approved.

Lion's Gate is run by a the highest ranking general in the Oplunian forces underneath the Master of Ships, Oplus. Often times they are given full authority to run things as they see fit. This general is often awarded the title of Duke/Duchess and is entitled to the benefits of such for all the lands of northern Oplus.

The central fortress is a large and intimidating castle with giant gates in the center. There are walls large enough to prevent even a giant's siege engine from reaching the top that stretch across the entire pass. The giant walls are filled with barracks, food storage, and weapons facilities at the top, but solid stone beneath that first floor. These walls are also dug so deep into the ground that its believed to cut off passages in the *Deep Dark.
