The Dark Ages

Historical Significance

Year 1 - The city of Gald was the first to burn, the messengers unable to get to Gald in time for the city to prepare defenses against the Swarm. The armies held the city hostage, killing any who attempted to leave. After capturing the city they began to march north to Silver Port, to cut off Nathius from the rest of Malacatia.
Year 2 - The Dovrah have decided that they need to intervene with the Swarm, because they could sense the disturbance in the Queen and her soldiers. Unfortunately they didn’t have the time to prepare, when the Harrowed Queen used her power, along with the Earthshaper, to destroy a large swath of the Dov Highlands and tear a gigantic chasm into the earth that the Racanyac could climb through, destroying a group of Dov fighters that were going to attack the Swarm. An army proceeded to pass through the chasm and prepared for an ambush against the city of Holden. Malacatia had become aware of what was happening and sent messengers out to the Arcane Consortium, Turak Dominion, and the wild Shal’turak Tribes, hoping to receive assistance. All three agreed, and they created the, albeit short lived, Northern Alliance. The Dominion already had an invasion fleet sent to the Northwest edge of the Dead Frontier, this attack was not very successful yet they did capture more of the coast than the had previously, marked as Nril Invasion.
Year 3 - A fleet of warships leaves Kit’tiric filled with Racanyac and their Sesken Mounts heading for the eastern coast of the Nath Plains, preparing to the invasion of Nathius. The army ambushing Holden was discovered prior to the planned time for the assault, so they attacked early, while the army was flanked from behind by Dov Druids of the Nina tribe, and the combined assault of the Dov and the soldiers of Holden forced the Racanyac to retreat back to the chasm. The armies in Silver Creek went south then west towards Westren, made quick work of them and then sent scouts to cut supply lines from the north to Holden, and they faced resistance from the Shal’turak in the region. The Leaders of the Northern Alliance, Calum of Malacatia, Headmaster Taika, and General Nthanda Jelani, decided that they should split into two divisions one with Turak and Malacatian soldiers that goes down to the Gilded Grove to defend Holden, and the other with mages from the north and more Malacatian soldiers, will go to Silver Creek Port and conduct a naval assault, to work their way into the Nath Peninsula.
Year 4 - The fleet of warships landed on the coast closest to the city of Nathius, they began their swift assault on the city, running across the plain to allow the city as little time to prepare as possible. They were successful, as the soldiers were preparing for an attack from the west not the east. Nathius fell, and was set ablaze, the screams of the residents could be heard for over a mile, and it is said that the smoke could be seen from as far as Gald. Another fleet of reinforcements was sent to meet with the army in Nathius. The supplies and soldiers from the Northern Alliance reached Holden. The Northern Alliance sent messengers to the Nina tribe to ask for help with attacking the Swarm. They set up a defensive fortification along the border of the Golden Grove and Western Run to hopefully prevent/slow future attacks. The Northern Alliance attacked the city of Silver Creek and after a week of laying siege to the city, it was freed from the Swarm.
Year 5 - The Swarm began to focus their efforts onto Holden. They moved their soldiers from the Western territory across the Western Run. They constructed small bridges to get across the river and from there marched on to Holden. The army in the abyss, bolstered by the Queen, prepared to attack the defenses, while they were preoccupied with the armies attacking from the north. The Northern Alliance began to refocus their counter attack on going through the Western Dov Highlands, sending more troops and redirecting much of their available supplies to Holden, for both the assault and to protect their assets in the region.
Year 6 - The Swarm attacked at dawn, the Northern Alliance was prepared and prepared their defenses accordingly. The Royal Division of the Swarm attacked from the south and within an hour the Northern Alliance was trapped inside the city of Holden. For 21 straight hours they fought, before the first Swarm Division lost too many soldiers and routed. Then the remaining soldiers began to focus their efforts on a certain point in the wall, sustaining little to no casualties. An entire day later, 45 hours since the beginning, the Royal Division broke through the walls, and while they were strong the streets small size limited them. Intense fighting continued for 8 more hours, fighting block by block, street by street, the Royal Division pushed the Northern Alliance into the heart of the city. 53 hours after the beginning of the battle the Northern Alliance soldiers surrendered in the city center, and General Nthanda Jelani was executed as an example for the remaining soldiers.
Year 7 - Due to the intense devastation of the Turak forces The Dominion abandoned the Northern Alliance and redacted their forces from the fronts and isolated themselves on their island. The rest of the alliance began to rout throughout all of their lands, the Arcane Consortium had many of their magi and wizards sent back to Millara Peak. The Swarm took advantage of this and swept through the rest of the Nath Empire and was slowed little by what little resistance there was from Malacatia.
Year 8 - The Swarm reached the city of Malacatia, and Calum surrendered the city to save his people. Queen Tiric ordered the execution of Calum and his whole family, to effectively eliminate the entire bloodline.
Year 9 - The Swarm began their occupation of the conquered lands in earnest, killing all who dissented to their rule. They began to sent in their overseers, daughters of the queen, to watch over the corrupt political officials they put in charge. They imposed harsh labor taxes, and forcefully relocated many of the Malacatians to the mines of the Iron Peaks. The Malacatians were put under the worst living conditions, many died in those mines, families were torn apart and starvation was rampant.
Year 10 - Political tensions within the Swarm break down. A civil war began to break out between Qadir nobles and the Queen. The war was less of a war and more of a violent political campaign. The Queen and a few loyal Qadir fought for the favor of the populus as well as the conquered peoples, they have majority control over Kic’tiric and most of the territory south of the Dov Highlands, while the Corrupt Qadir had control over the rest of the mainland.
Year 11 - The Corrupt Qadir began to post a large amount of propaganda to convince the conquered peoples that the newly ruling Qadir are their proper leaders and that the kingdom should be more representative, while attempting to write up a “republic” where they had total control over the votes. Queen Tiric had been attempting to gain the favor of the other kingdom to help her overthrow the Qadir.
Year 14 - The conflict has been shifting to favor the Qadir, while a small resistance movement has formed in Gald that was being supported by the Queen and the Arcane Consortium.
Year 20 - Political power begins to shift toward the rebels in Gald and their forces began to infiltrate Holden and Nathius, inspiring rebellion among the populus.
Year 25 - The tension within the kingdom breaks out into all out war, between the lower class rebels and upper class that is being bribed by the Qadir.
Year 29 - The Queen and the rebel forces were able to topple the Qadir.
Year 30 - The reconstruction of the northern end of the continent began. The Queen assisted with the reconstruction as much as possible, she sent all of the Malacatians back to their homes and used the Earthshaper to assist when possible.
