Dracin Pearls

Properties

Material Characteristics

Dracin pearls aren't pearls like those in oysters, instead, they're mineral deposits pulled from the inside of the mouth of dracins. Slightly rough to the touch, and lighter than they appear, dracin pearls come in a variety of colours, and are not overly patterned.

Geology & Geography

Dracin's are secretive creatures, and their current location is hidden from the rest of the world. After years hiding from the Aeshir who seek to harm them for their magical capabilities, they now can only be found in one place, a small town tucked away in the floating mountains of Nalys.   The Aeshir that live with them help to raise and rear the dracin when they are in their vulnerable adolescent years and conduct the trade of dracin pearls. No one can visit the dracin village without being led there, blindfolded, by a Guide.   These Guides are one of the few denizens allowed to leave the dracin village, and to achieve their role must undertake strict training protocols. A Guide would rather die than reveal the location of the dracin village, they have the responsibility to protect a dying breed of incredible creatures and must understand the importance of their role.

Origin & Source

Dracin pearls are mineral build-ups that form around the glands where dracins expel their elemental aether energy. In the wild, dracins would chew roughage in order to dislodge the material when it starts to clog up their glands. With their reduced population size, the dracins now live with Aeshir, and it is their Aeshir handlers that reach into the mouths to remove the pearls before they become a problem.

I'd like to know more about the Dracin too. I love how those that raise them protect them!
