Brain Sores

"I was talking to grandmother and suddenly she just looked at me and called me by your name, mom!"   "Oh dear, that's just how people can get when they get this old. She has gotten brain sores, they make her mix all sort of things up."
— Conversation between a mother and daughter

Causes

Age seems to be the cause itself, although it is hard to say. Depavatan scientists recently came out with a statement saying
When the body gets older than it was meant to by the gods, it starts to break down. We can see this in several ways physically with weakness, bad eye sight etc., so of course it happens on the inside as well. When the body starts to break down the brain does so too, creating sores. Skills and memories stored in the places where the sore is can thus disappear.

Symptoms

Most importantly, the memory is affected. They can disappear, get mixed up or confused, and it can range from simple details to entire skills and years of a person's life. Less common symptoms includes changes in personality, mood swings and changes in sleep and eating patterns.

Prognosis

There is no known treatment for brain sores. It is seen as a normal progression of life and usually the symptoms remain, or get worse, until the person dies. There are examples of people dying from the brain sores themselves due to doing dangerous things, getting lost, or simply stop eating.

Affected Groups

Only seems to affect older people of all genders, however exactly what is meant by 'old' varies. It is said to be more common among people that have worked in mentally taxing occupations during the life, although this is not proven.

Cultural Reception

Brain sores is widely a common and accepted predicament for old people. Families tend to take care of their older family members that suffer from it, or if it is very severe they may be taken care of by medical professionals.
