South American Jet Squadron 001-Royal Guard, Earth

• Established in 2118 by Emperor Martin Galunchi to protect the royal family and their business ventures, Squad 001 was a force to be reckoned with. The squad contained 24 jets and 1 advanced recon plane that could hold up to 30 paratroopers.
• Each pilot was selected by the royal family out of a pool of over 10,000 applicants, who served them for life. Only the best of the best could join 001, and if they performed badly, their families could be punished along with themselves. This served as great motivation to always being the greatest pilots South America has to offer.-
• Like all squads, everyone is like a brother, and the loyalty to each other is deeper than that of theirs to the royal family.
• Their duties included: Patrolling the immediate area surrounding the royal family while they were outside of the fortress, shooting down rogue planes; both enemy and friendly, and performing intense training while not in battle or patrol.
• 001 pilots are trained to handle up to 9 G’s, intense vertical climbs and rolls, as well as combat maneuvers. However, disaster would strike their unit, sending ripples throughout the world.
• In 2280, while doing a routine training mission, a distress call came from the border between South America and the Pacific Alliance. As they were investigating, they accidentally crossed the Great Ocean Gate’s Primary Kill Line, initiating their border defense protocol. Their mistake cost the entire squad’s lives, and 28 of the best pilots perished instantly.
• The backlash on both sides of the border caused the royal family to suspend their selection of a new Squadron 001, and the empty spot stayed vacant for 17 years, with the standard airforce subbing in for patrol in their place.
• Finally, a new 001 unit was made, with the added rule that while on training missions, the squad is not allowed near the border or the Great Ocean Gate.
