Heavy Wing
Waking up with a cough Flit found his wings were sore. When his parents noticed his mother scolded him because she knew he had been down at the playground the day before. Before she could get into a tirade however his father reminded his wife the sickness wasnt like when they were spritlings and Grandma Toad could create a remedy now that would clear it up in no time.
Causes
The cause is still unclear but many faires believe it originates from humans. Some believe it is the nature of human technology cancelling out the inherent magic in the fay, others propose it is disease like, while some say it comes not from the technology but merely living to close to humans pointing to the house sprites all of which have lost their wings over the centuries.
Symptoms
First a fairy will develop a slight cough, then a feeling of lethargy. Their wings then become sore and feel like they are made of lead. When this happens the muscles will stop operating with peak performance and slowly deteriorate until the fay can barely shrug their wings.
Treatment
A recent cure has been found that could only be discovered by the four tribes working together. A tea is brewed and drink by the afflicted for several weeks until the condition goes away.
Recipe
- Ground leaves from the highest tree on the mountain
- Pine needles from the forest
- Water form the lake
- Boiled in a pod made from clay from the Everwet
Cultural Reception
The fay who used to contract this were often pitied by their peers as the condition rarely clears on its own. May would take a life of exile rather than continue to participate in fey culture seemingly stunted. However since the discovery of the cure the issue has nearly gone away which has led to many of the fay more receptive to dealing with and around select humans.
