Desert Temple Ruins

"I have no idea who built those but they sure make the neighborhood a lot more attractive... for us four people living here."   Suzi
The Desert Temple Ruins are a set of ancient buildings carved into the canyon walls of the Western Skashal Desert. They are spread around the rocky area; the main temple is placed above an (almost) abandoned settlement of a tribe long vanished. Nowadays, the only regular visitors are the few residents of the canyon: the small Arachnid household of Suzi and Zara, along with their terrestial neighbors Rosie "Rivet" Nash and her wife CN-S96G "Cyn".   The two Arachnids visit the temple ruins to pray and make offerings to their Gods while Rivet and Cyn see them as a treasure chest to be discovered.

Purpose / Function

The Desert Temple Ruins were built by an unknown civilization of desert-dwelling Arachnids way before humans arrived at Straos. The main purpose of the complex is the worship of The Huntress and The Groundsman in their respective temples. Remarkably, the main temple on top of the canyon's highest point looks like it had been used to worship both deities in the same place; something most Arachnid cultures see as a taboo.   Besides being a place of prayer and rituals, the temples were most likely had other uses as well. Some smaller chambers and hallways suggest a complex of sleeping/living quarters along with a nursery and a primitive version of a hospital. Scans of the stone which the temples were carved in show that there might be a tunnel system beyond what had been discovered so far. Any explorations to discover what lies beneath the ruins were unsuccessful and eventually came to a halt.

Alterations

The ruins had been mostly untouched since they had been abandoned. Human exploration teams have removed parts of the statues and wall decorations but mostly settled with scanning the temples to leave them unharmed.   The most drastic alteration had been crafted by one of the canyon's recent citizens: Suzi has parted the main temple with a brick wall to seperate the altars for The Huntress and The Groundsman from each other. It was a choice of religious preference since she exclusively worships The Huntress and is a maintainer of the belief that both deities should be strictly seperated.
