Casek el-Zia

First Priest of Abstinence Casek el-Zia

"For soon, Casek, man will succeed in the creation of that which the We chose not to pursue and in doing so will condemn the souls of generations to come." - King God Oltas   Casek el-Zia, the author of The Abstinence Manuscript was rumored to have been the first apprentice of Alchemist Tam, one of the Alchemists instrumental in the creation of Magic. it is said that upon realizing that the Alchemists had finally been successful in creating Magic Casek disappeared from Alchemist Tams study and immediately began working on his Manuscript feverishly. While some believe that Casek had simply taken an apprentice position so that he could stay informed on the status of Magic and had planned on releasing his Manuscript upon the success of the Alchemists from the beginning (their ultimate goal was never secret), the first paragraphs of Casek's Manuscript tells of a vision he had several nights earlier in which Oltas, the King God visited him in a dream and instructed Casek to take a stance against Magic for the sake of the soul and the world. Recognizing the significance of the vist, Casek followed Oltas' instructions in leading a movement against Magic for the remainder of his life.   Casek el-Zia died several years after the release of the manuscript during the First War on Magic while on his way to a meeting with King Arsha and the Alchemists in an attempt to put an end to the bloodshed and to discuss how Magic could be responsibly used by the population under the Monarchy's watchful eye. While there is no evidence of foul play, many Abstainers believe the Casek's death was orchestrated by the Alchemists or the Magic Majority (as Magic Users were called).
