background

Over 1,000 years ago, the followers of Gozreh suddenly lost connection with their deity the same time as a giant storm appeared over the small island of Hermea off the coast of the Old Chiliaxian region of Golerion.

30 years ago, the 1,000-year storm showed signs of easing and within 10 years the storm cleared. As the storm cleared, the region now called Storms Eye was revealed. The next 20 years brought in the age of exploration. Both the Technic League and the Pathfinder society sent expeditions to explore this new region with the aims to uncover interesting technology or artifacts and try piece together what happened at Hermea respectively.

The wind, it whispers to me. Listen and you will hear Gozreh's spirit lives on.
Lucian Prescu, Leader of the Children of the Sea

motivation

The idea for Storms eye was developed from the map designed by Nate from WASD20 where he developed a map that broke all map and geography rules.

goals

  1. Flex my creativity to develop a narative to fit a world that breaks all geographic rules.

  2. The region of Storms eye will later be used as a setting for a Pathfinder campaign.

genre

Storms eye is a small region of the high fantasy Pathfinder setting Golerion.

Storms eye will be high fantasy with dashes of dark fantasy or shifts in tone dependant on the island visited.

There are aspects of Arcanapunk due to the Storms eye being cut off from the rest of Golerion for 1,000 years, the inhabitaints of the region had to rely on and adapt to the available resources.

magic level

Magic is not uncommon, however is viewed cautiously, particuarly Divine casters. Primal magic is viewed upon more favourably.

Magic items are slightly rare and underpowered. Ancient magic items sought after for their potent magic.

scale

The region of Storms eye is but a small region of the Pathfinder world of Golerion. However the world building of this world will be kept to the region of Storms eye.

Storms eye is slightly larger than the island of Hermea where the storm originated over with additional shards of other planes pulled into the material plane.

campaign size

The inital size of the campaign setting will be based on the island of Eleon with the starting location being the city of Brinewind.

The campaign would expand to visit the surrounding islands as the story expands. Each island reflects a higher and lower plane as they were pulled into the material plane during the Battle of Everlight.

mood

Storms eye can be described as noble-neutral/neutral with bleak undertones

tone & feel

When someone comes to the region of Storms eye there is a sense of wonder and excitement at the strange geography and the idea of exploring a 'wild new place'. However, behind this bright, shiny feel, there are undercurrents of struggle and exploitation; not just of the land & nature but people as well.

character agency

The impact you have on the world depends on where you are born and your station in life. Members of the Technic League or the Pathfinder Society, and other such groups or organizations have a real impact on the world around them, for good or bad.
