Chapter 3: Classes

Your class defines what you as a character can do, its not just a profession: its the kind of hero you are. There are two categories of classes, Basic Classes and Advance Classes. In normal 5th edition D&D you may be familiar with classes and sub-classes, or archetypes, where a member of a class can choose an archetype at 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level to further specialize and define their role. In this game, archetypes are replaced by the advance classes, and your basic class doesn't limit what advance class you can take. Be a Strong Hero with the Medic advance class, be a Smart Hero with the Bodyguard advance class, any combination you can think of will work and is sure to be interesting. You pick your basic class and advance class both at 1st level, with the advance class working similar to an archetype would in normal 5e D&D, giving you features at regular intervals. If your DM allows you to multiclass, you will have to take levels in a second basic class to also gain the features of a second advance class, but you may not select a basic or advance class you already have levels in or have chosen when you multiclass; you must pick different classes. Multiclassing and its rules are defined in chapter 6.   Your class gives you a variety of features, at least one per level and typically not more than two. Your higher level in a class represents your mastery of that class and its core concepts. Sometimes when you gain a level, an existing feature will improve rather than you gaining a new feature. Every class will have a table summarizing what that class gains and at what level, with detailed explanations of each feature further in the class description.   The six basic classes are the Charismatic Hero, Dedicated Hero, Fast Hero, Smart Hero, Strong Hero, and Tough Hero. Each class specializes in a different ability score. The advance classes are more varied and nuanced. For ease of access, each class will be detailed in their own article, linked to this parent article.
