Drift Drive

Spread throughout the galaxy by the Tech Priests, Drift Drives allows a ship to cut a hole in the universe, slip outside of it and to reenter at a Drift Beacon. The technology behind them is not understood outside of the Techpriestdom, but it is known that both magic and technology is incorporated. Drift Drives have the great advantage that distance has literally no effect on travel time, but the drawback that travel with Drift Drive gets increasingly imprecise the further you go from a Drift Beacon. Thus, while travel to civilized areas is quick and allows only days of transport times for goods, exploration of new systems is extremely difficult with the use of Drift Drives and most often rely on other forms of travel.
