Ruled with an iron fist by House Apexia, Apexia Regency is as a nation stretching back thousands of years. Apexia is a powerful but traditional nation, with many colonies and a well defended border. Apexia Regency retains trade and political relations with both the Systems Alliance, the Vesk Imperium and the Gor Dominion, considering themselves something of a venerated elder, capable of advising the younger, more rash stellar nations of the galaxy. Apexia is a highly segregated society, with the upper echelons of society consisting almost exclusively of elves and the lowest rungs of society being made up of dwarves and ysoki - “Mongrels”, as the Apexian elves likes to call them. While outright slavery is illegal in Apexia, indentured servitude is a common punishment for defaulting on payments and few elven houses do not have at least a good handful of servants so indebted that they will be indentured in several generations. The Apexian society is largely centered around the noble houses and their needs, with both political, economical and magical power flowing from them. There are 21 major houses, but a multitude of smaller ones and off-shoot houses makes backstabbing and intrigue a mainstay of the nation’s political life.
The nation is highly reliant on magic and the Apexian noble houses hoards magical items and artifacts with a jealousy bordering on obsession. Their fleet and armies are similarly dependent on magic, with their enchanted armor and magical weaponry allowing them to go toe to toe, even if Apexian technology can not match that of their competitors.
