Station Terminus IX

Starting life as a functional but generic pre-fab medium-sized space station in orbit over the mining planet of The End, over the last hundred and fifty years STIX has grown. Any time new space is required, whatever is at hand to be bought, stolen or traded has been attached to the outside. This ranges from decommissioned ships and old cargo containers to more advanced modular station assemblies wedged, riveted or welded into place where ever they could fit and still provide access.   Traffic to STIX is limited, and often not exactly legal in nature, as it is at the ass end of space with the Dark on one side and the Far Colonies on the other side. The permanent population is unknown but is estimated to be in the range of 20-30 thousand. At any time there are usually enough ships and crews to add another 4-5 thousand to this.

Demographics

30% Elosian 20% Human Serves mostly spacers, including a higher than average number of Starcrawlers, smugglers, and pirates.

Government

Ruled by a corporate council that includes members from all corporations which own space on the station. Each member only gets one vote, regardless of how much space they own. Every 10 years an administrator is voted into power as the civic leader of STIX. The Administrator must not have been an employee if any member of the council in the last 50 years.

Defences

The fixed defenses of STIX have long since been covered up by the growth of additional components all over the station. Because of this STIX has taken to using orbitally emplaced turrets with very limited ability to move themselves around and maintain their orbits.   In addition to this STIX maintains it's own small fleet of combat ships (size 2-4), and a number of locally controlled fighter squadrons.   Any corporation which stations or services combat capable ships is also expected to participate in the defense of the station and local space when called on by the Council or the Administrator.

Industry & Trade

Aside from the infrastructure to support The End there are a number of small shipyard which provide servicing and part fabrication for locals.   The primary export is ores from The End which are exported to nearby Far Colonies.   The only major imports are raw materials for the support of the End which are not actually mined on The End.   Other imports are sporadic, and generally only come with speculative traders in small ships to come and try and make a deal. There is, however a thirving black market where illegal goods can often be gotten, including weapons and even ships.

Infrastructure

The greater portion of the income of STIX is derived from industries which support the mining colony on The End. This includes a number of fabrication facilities for supplies and equipment and an extensive hydroponics area which produces crops and grows PodMeat(TM) to supply food to The End.   In addition to this, there are a number of salvage corporations (some of which are fronts for Starcrawlers) and offices of low end merc and security companies that supply services to the Far Colonies. While technically in the Elosian Sphere, STIX is as far from the Elosian homeworlds as you can get and still be in the sphere, so the long arm of the law lays lightly here, making it popular with criminals, smugglers, pirates and other less-than-leagal enterprises.

Guilds and Factions

Miners Guild, Salvagers Guild, a local Killjoys office.   Neither the Adepts or the Sorcerers keep a permanent presence on STIX.   There is a small office with a few officers of the Elosian military. Being sent to STIX is very much a punishment detail.   There is a fairly large force of Civil Defense personnel who serve as both the police and the military of the station.
