Located on the border of the Kanzi Sector, the Zong system is not a major system, however it has some importance amongst the fringe. Like so many other systems in the Kanzi Sector, this one was settled as a mining colony in order to extract the mineral wealth of the planets and moons. That industry has long since ended, however the planet remains valuable due to the cornucopia of pharmaceuticals that are extracted from its iodine rich seas, especially those offered by the great and dangerous doomwhale. Today, the people of Midkemia have reverted to an atomic age of technology. They hunt their seas using ships and trade the catch for the other things they need to survive.
The Empire treats this system as they do most of the other minor systems in the Kanzi Sector. It is only visited by the roaming patrols of the Navy and Customs Service. Governor Kuna Typho only has a single garrison base outside Midkemia’s capital city, Krondor, with the standard complement of troops and T.I.E. starfighters. The ISB agents assigned to the base are actually his biggest asset as they keep him apprised of the events transpiring on his planet. The only other facilities in the system that are of any interest are a few gas mining platforms around Roldem that are owned by Targhazan Mining Corporation.
