The Zifrin System
This system is in many ways the system that The Kanzi Sector wishes was the gateway to the sector. The system is prosperous, largely due to the fact that it lies at the crossroads of major trade routes. It is also a corporate owned stronghold for the Loronar Corporation. Once, the system was heavily mined, but as with most older systems in the Kanzi Sector, all that remains of that industry is gas mining and some small-scale asteroid mining in the belt. The surface of the planet was long ago devastated by the mining activities that attracted Loronar to the system. Luckily, the planet had vast networks of subterranean caverns. Added to this were thousands of kilometers of mining tunnels. The population was able to move underground, sealing the caverns and tunnels. Eventually, the surface regenerated, but by then the amount of carbon dioxide being expelled from the sub-surface habitats had built up in the atmosphere, now a lush jungle/forest covers the surface, however, the oxygen concentrators for the subterranean habitats remove too much oxygen to allow the surface to have a breathable atmosphere. The underground cities maintain themselves by use of hydroponics. Other portions of the tunnels have been converted to manufactories. One of the newest production lines is Loronar’s Extinction bomber. The Lynx patrol landspeeder is also produced in large numbers at production facilities across the planet.
The remainder of the system’s population, some billion or so, live on the various orbital facilities in the system. The largest of these are the Loronar yards. The yards in this system are capable of building four Huntress-class pursuit cruisers and eight X-Q1 patrol vessels at a time. Currently, all the slips are full of ships headed for Moff Hax’s Sector Group and nearing completion. The primary civilian orbital station is Reverie Station, which acts as the system's primary starport.
