Found in a crumpled ball on the floor outside Mel's Quarters

In the depths of space, another dimension. Energy shifting glowing lace, Alone with my tension.   An affection blooms, A woman tender yet wild. Still uncertainty looms, Another man’s child.   Wishing a thing true, Does not make it so. A relationship so new, Where will her heart go?   A home and family I have never known, These things replaced by brothers in arms. Always at the orders of others I have flown, Distance shielding the heart from love’s harms.   From here is a path I never have walked, Matters of the heart being so foreign. Yet the path before me will not be balked, Wing of light sending my heart soaring.   If uncertainty my heart slays, It will surely be my fault, To ensure ahead brighter days, For her I will not halt.   So I say hide not your face, But walk proud and tall. Tears fall not from a weak place, But from catharsis for us all.     Handwritten in an unsteady hand.

My New Companions

Well, it has been several weeks since I fell into the company of these new companions. They seem competent in their various fields, if somewhat lacking in discipline and direction. They have been all over the place, but I suppose that is to be expected as the various ideals and objectives shake themselves out. I am glad that we have located a possible place to call home, but we really need to get to work on getting things set up. If they are serious about fighting the Empire they are going to have to really ramp up their efforts. I am not without fault in this. It is encouraging that we have managed to secure a squadron's worth of starfighters, but I fear that it will soon spell the end of my days traveling about with them all the time. Someone will have to command the base and see to the training of the new pilots. I donot see any of the others as volunteering to give up their freedom of movement to do so. I just hope they can see past my Imperial history and trust me to do this for them. After all, I never signed up for the Imperial Navy, I joined the Navy of the Republic and was simply caught up in the rise of Palpatine to power. Most of my contemporaries have been eased out of the Navy, with the new hardcore of youngsters replacing us. It is time to do something about restoring the honor to the Navy that is supposed to be defending the Galaxy, not oppressing it. My one big concern is that, if we do get this thing going, these civilian types have no idea of how much work and support will be needed to support even a small squadron of capital ships, much less a real Navy. The Empire is expanding its military power so quickly, and we are going to have to be able to at least match them on a local basis. I doubt we will ever be able to match them on a sector wide basis, so we need to be fast and moblie. Tactically and strategically that meas carrier warfare to me. Starfighters are much more easily replaced if lost, plus they allow a carrier to attack with its "Main Battery" without risking the much less easily replaceable hull. It is cold sounding, but the Empire can always win the major ship battles, they are just too powerful to fight head on. I believe that commerce warfare and space denial will be what we should be focusing on. Having studied the Dianoga starfighter we have acquired, I can see the benefit of these heavier, hyperdrive equipped craft. If we can establish bases near to the important Imperial systems, then raids and strikes on those systems should be possible. I will have to remember to bring up the need for backup basing facilities for these types of operations. If we cannot provide a carrier for these ships their base will inevitably be located, so they will need fallback positions. Ideally, each base should have three backup facilities.   Logistics....aagh!! How I hate them and how the entire effort will definitely hang on them. We will need to focus on this first. If they want this new world to be a support facility for their efforts we will need to build it up. That means transports to bring in equipment and personnel. Now I know why the admirals all had gray hair. Every ship we add will increase the risk of its discovery. Perhaps we should use astrogation droids with self wiping buffers? Maybe even establish a deep space rendezvous where stuff is transferred to ships which only operate between there and this new world. What are we gonna call it anyway? We can't very well use the catalogue number, that will give away its location way too easily. There is a huge benefit to this as well. We can always drop any prisoners we take into a distant cavern with minimal tools and supplies so they can support themselves. As long as wee don't put too many in any one place they should be safe enough. Oh crap, we are about to arrive back at Reverie Station, guess I better go.................
