Scholars of the Force

A neutral faction of force-sensitives and scholars, the Dantooine Force Institute believes that the fundamental understanding of how the force works is more important than the philosophical debates of the Sith and Jedi. Focusing on individual development and studying the variations between practitioners, the institute trains any individuals who show potential and are willing to be taught.

HISTORY

Formed from Sith defectors and disillusioned Jedi students, the institute was originally founded as a sanctuary and safe harbor for those who did not wish to be part of their eternal conflict. Hoping to understand the fundamental nature of The Force within the universe, they engineered a plan to build a research station as far from the conflicting powers as possible. Over time their original plan expanded into a school for force users due to the need of both manpower and resources. Following their core belief that everyone should follow their own path, the instructors do not attempt to persuade or dissuade their students from choosing which powers to master.

This neutrality has both aided and caused tension between the Institute and galactic powers. While some, such as the IRL and Czerka Corporation respect their decision to stay out of politics, both the Sith Empire and The Republic feel are dissatisfied with the loss of potentially powerful resources. Exchange recruiters also keep watch for any potential candidates that they may be able to poach from those among the student body.

RELATIONS

Czerka Corporation - As one of the largest companies in the galaxy, Czerka provides a majority of the shipping to Dantooine, thus also the Institute. Food, medicine, and tech supplies are often transported from one of the main port hubs to the institute keeping them well stocked and readily supplied.

The Exchange - While there is no official contracts between the two, many faculty members do use Exchange contacts for a variety of reasons: from acquiring rare - sometimes illegal - substances for research, to info on potential threats, to smuggling prospective candidates out of the Empire and Republic. While not common, it isn't unheard of for graduates to decide and work for them in return for a quick income.

Ithorian Restoration League - Due to the nature of Ithorian force sensitivity, many instructors have ties to those within the IRL. Some of the more Light-Side focused adepts seek to use their powers to help restore war-torn areas with the League, while others may seek them out to better their internal connections to the Force.

Sith Empire - Staying neutral in galactic politics, there is no official policy towards this government. While some instructors and students may have their own biases, these are not seen consistently throughout the institute.
