Ord Mantell

A planet that has been destroyed through environmental neglect over the millennia. Best known as a smugglers dream and reliable Shadowport Ord Mantell is popularly known as a planet of ill repute.

Geography

Ord Mantell has an active tectonic history that has built up mountain ranges throughout the whole of the planet. Avilatan Islan stands out as one of most active volcanic areas on the planet.
There are two main continents, with the northern continent (Worl) is primarily a wasteland. The Scraplands are dangerous for anybody without breathing apparatus. Small settlements dot the landscape where the inhabitants depend upon a rotating set of traders that sell foodstuffs for the scraps that can be freely scavenged.
The southern continent has some of the last virgin forests on the planet. Savrip Peninsula, the location of first contact between the colonists and the Mantellian Savrip is a protected area where the environment is protected.

Natural Resources

The environment of Ord Mantell has been decimated by millennia of abuse. Republic dependence on fossil fuels, and the local natural abundance of oils, led to an industrial complex that destroyed large sections of the planet surface. The violent geologic history of Ord Mantell is evidenced by large mountain ranges that cross the spine of each continent.
From orbit the most obvious feature is The Scraplands . This vast, pale area dominates the main continent. It has been strip mined and used to build a vast industrial complex. Now it is barely habitable, and most species need to use breathers if they want to venture outside. The Coral Coast, to the south and east of Worlport is home to a vibrant community of scavengers who take advantage of the debris that wash in from the heavily polluted waters of Ord Mantell.
The only continent in the Southern Hemisphere is home to Savrip Peninsula and the last virgin forests of Ord Mantell. Named for the native species is the site of first contact this nearly sacred place has not been desecrated by the colonists.
