The Palace of Piety

The home of the Coranimii Emperor, currently Primus Dietious the Palace of Piety stretches across the dual summits of Cor. Made from nine kinds of stone from the nine provinces of the empire (quartzite from Cortertia, Marble from Giit, quartzite from Rogsvor, travertine from Kroll, brick from Ulseria, granite from Eoworf, armourite from the Daldondes, limestone from Charance, and sandstone from Bahksmar), the palace is a true architectural delight.

The two hills are linked by the Emperor's Walk (colquially known as the Walk of Conquerors). On the northern summit is the Hall of Plenty and the Emperor’s Council Chamber, as well as the Gardens of Unrelenting Growth. The dome of the Hall of Plenty is the largest unsupported, manmade structure in Spheria, with a diameter of a mile and constructed from 27,333 slate tiles.

On the southern hill can be found the Emperor’s personal residence and the pleasure gardens that stretch down to the river Chorus. The Empress’s Galdefeld Stables, which also consist of her personal chambers and facilities is the southernmost structure of the palace and is a wonder in itself.

History

The Palace of Piety was orginally two constructions; the Hall of Offerings; and, King's Lookout. When the tyrant kings were overthrown by the Coranimii the government took over the King's Lookout and adopted it as the Chamber of State.   When the Emperor took the throne on the 15th Madus 113 AD, the Chamber of State became the Council Chamber of State. In the same period, the Hall of Offerings was incorparated into the state structure, and the The Isilian Priesthood were made a state sect. The buildings were connected by the Forum Popular.   When on 31st Vintrecom 899 AD the Emperor Criticus Formidicus reformed the Empire, the Emperor's residence on the south hill was linked to the Council Chamber of State by a covered walkway and a formal gardens. The chamber was renamed for another time, as the Emperor's Council Chamber. The Hall of Offerings was destroyed in a fire during the building works, many speculated it was the disapproval of the gods, Criticus merely claimed it was a chance to rebuild and the Hall of Plenty was erected in its place. With its towering dome which still stands; none can deny the gods smiled upon Criticus' ambitions.
