Medium is a loner, some may see him as a homeless person but some may sense something strange and back away from him, he'd think it's for the best seeing as he could manipulate with emotions. Though he may be selfless, he is less caring about other people and more doing what he does because it nags and annoys him, it'll take someone else to tell him that feeling is caring and that he actually has a heart and wants to help others with his powers.
Born with this ability, he didn't know where he got it from seeing as he was raised in a peaceful orphanage thanks to his powers, he used to have a lot of friends, chasing their sorrows away until he accidentally manifested one of the teacher's grief of a stillborn child as a teenager and destroyed his home, partly because his friends had a family and he didn't.
After school, he ran away from the orphanage to live his own life.
