Cat Spirit

The legend of the Cat Spirit stems from Yu Lin and Lady Wang's relationship. This myth started out as romantic fantasy where she recounts her interactions with favorable light but no one believed her so it changed to the cat spirit being evil at first before falling for the charming Lady Wang and changing his ways. Since then mythology has been a hot topic for not only children but also Gretal and her sisters.

Summary

A cat spirit preys onto the souls of men, always in a tavern to sniff out it's prey, while out on a hunt, he saves the beautiful Lady Wang from bandits and lures her to his home in the caves but Lady Wang was more intelligent and declined the offer. She is a feisty young woman which gained the interest of this cat spirit, he always met her in the Yin Forest, playing with her a little until he fully fell for her charm and wit. During these times, she didn't know what he really was, disguising as a handsome young scholar. She soon also fell for him. But after 2 years, the cat spirit accidentally reveals his true nature when she followed him to his cave once but not to his knowledge. She ran away from him and didn't see him for a while before realizing that he could have killed her if he wanted to and wanted to test his love for her. When she fell ill, he went through heaven and hell to find a cure for his lover, he returned, in defeat, leaning against her in her sick bed in his true form, wanting to stay with her forever. Before he could succumb to heartbreak however, she awakens and saw him in his true form. She tells him that she loves him anyway and they lived happily ever after. Though none of that happened in real life, it was a popular fairytale at the time.

Historical Basis

This myth is based on Lady Wang's encounter with Gretal's alter ego, Yu Lin when she was gathering information about the planet. Her plans of travelling were put to a halt by Lady Wang who saved him from bandits and letting him keep his secret identity as an alien safe. They soon hung out and fell mutually in love with each other, despite Yu Lin's story being half truths, although he did mention escaping from the rules to go and travel, which they did, only they only can do so with a horse rather than a spaceship, so they did travel around China. After 2 years of travelling, Gretal decided to reveal who she really was, though it is unsure if Lady Wang ran because of her alien biology or if she realize that Gretal was a woman (because at that time men had long hair too and female fairies and proelias had no curves) but she did. This is also the time where Gretal realize that her parents did put a spell on her and her sisters to hide how different Proelias are. Lady Wang changed her mind and tried to find her but Gretal went into hiding and left for England but Lady Wang made a shrine for her in the Yin Forest where they met where Lady Wang always puts food and joss sticks that are mostly eaten by animals, until Gretal returned for her funeral only to realize too late that Lady Wang was finding her and returned her feelings, since then she has kept the legend somewhat alive in that era.

Spread

It used to be only known by Lady Wang's household but the legend was spread throughout China for a brief period of time but even Gretal cannot hold the people's attention span for too long and soon mover on from that legend to others. However, there are some children books about the legend in the 21st century after it was dug up by archaeologist.
